A LESBIAN kiss shown on popular Channel 7 soapie Home and Away has sparked controversy and a show of support.

Dozens of women protested at Federation Square about rumoured censoring of the kiss, but Channel 7 denied tampering with the scene involving Esther Anderson and Katie Bell.

Channel 7 spokeswoman Susan Wood said: "Some viewers were in support of the storyline and some were concerned."

Protester Emma Phillips, 32, said the group wanted recognition for discrimination against gay people.

"Gay people are going to exist whether we like it or not," she said.

'Arias With a Twist', WIG OUT Win at GLAAD Media Awards

GLAAD Media Award recipients were announced in 29 of this year's 41 media categories at the 20th Annual GLAAD Media Awards presented by IBM and Prudential at New York's Marriott Marquis on Saturday night.

    同性恋权益问题在美国新英格兰各州再度兴起，目前有两个州同性婚姻已经合法化，各外3个州也在考虑立法。

　　据美联社报道，一直以来，同性恋问题在“和平共存”状态下逐渐为人接受，到了2000年，佛蒙特州“两个人的结合”的法律生效，是同性恋争取权益的开拓性进展。

　　麻萨诸塞州与康涅狄克州已经接受同性婚姻，加利福尼亚州曾短暂允许同性婚姻合法化，但是去年11月被公民投票否决，与其他几个州一样，只承认同居关系。

　　新泽西州和新罕布什维尔州同样接受“两个人的结合”的合法性，同性恋者的结合与其他传统婚姻有着许多相同的权益。纽约承认其他地方批准的同性婚姻，并且与新泽西州都在考虑同性婚姻合法化。依阿华州也有人上书最高法院，要求同性婚姻具合法权益。

　　但是目前承认同性关系与否的焦点转移到新英格兰的北部。全国婚姻组织的主席Maggie Gallagher说，把同性婚姻议题交给公民投票解决不是易事，所以此事不能由公民直接投票决定。

　　新罕布什维尔州去年接受“两个人的结合”为合法，今年正在朝同性婚姻合法化迈进。佛蒙特州参议院提同相似法案，但是众院尚未投票通过。缅因州的同性婚姻合法化议案在议会得到60赞成票，但州长反对。

Lesbian named chief judge of U.S. Claims Court

The White House announced Monday that President Obama has appointed a prominent lesbian attorney and ordained Episcopal priest as Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.

Emily C. Hewitt, 64, has been serving as one of 16 judges on the U.S. Court of Federal Claims since President Clinton appointed her to the post in 1998.

Hewitt’s elevation to Chief Judge on the court does not require Senate confirmation. The Senate confirmed her 1998 appointment to the court.

A biography of Hewitt on the court’s web site says she is married to Eleanor Dean Acheson, a nationally recognized gay rights attorney who served as an assistant attorney general in the Clinton administration. Acheson, who was out as a lesbian in the Clinton administration, later worked as director of public policy and government affairs for the National Gay & Lesbian Task Force.

A White House statement announcing Hewitt’s appointment as chief judge says she has “handled cases in all areas of the court’s jurisdiction, chaired the court’s Rules and Building and Space Committees, and served on its Management Committee.”

In 2006, U.S. Chief Justice John Roberts appointed her to serve on the Financial Disclosure Committee of the United States Judicial Conference, the statement says. Prior to becoming a judge on the Court of Federal Claims, Hewitt served as general counsel to the U.S. General Services Administration during the Clinton administration. Before entering government service, Hewitt practiced law from 1978 to 1993 with the Boston law firm Hill & Barlow and was elected partner in the firm in 1985. She served as chair of the firm’s real estate department from 1987 to 1993.

She graduated from Harvard Law School with honors in 1978, according to her biography on the court’s web site. The biography says that between the time she completed her undergraduate degree at Cornell University in New York in 1966 and the time she entered law school, Hewitt studied at New York City’s Union Theological Seminary, where she received a degree in religion and educational studies.

The biography says she became one of the first 11 women to be ordained to the Episcopal priesthood in 1974 after being recognized as a leader in efforts to open the Episcopal ordination process to women. She served from 1973-1975 as assistant professor of religion and education at Andover Newton Theological School in Massachusetts.

The U.S. Court of Federal Claims hears cases involving monetary claims against the federal government. It’s located near the White House on Madison Pl., N.W.

The movie was very entertaining, with well developed characters and plot, while at the same time dealing with the issues lesbians face in different cultures in a very effective manner. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone with an open mind and a sense of humor.

Celebrating her fourth marital engagement, indecisive Tala (Lisa Ray) is growing concerned with a dreary life of compromise and expectation ahead of her. Meeting timid writer Leyla (Sheetal Sheth) through her family, Tala's senses are opened, and a strong attraction grows between the women as they bond over shared interests in art and breaking family tradition. When this friendship leads to sex, it freaks Tala out and she soon bails on the relationship, pushing Leyla to reveal her desires to the world and live her life free. Tala, firmly entrenched in suffocating wedding plans, now struggles to find the same release of her true self she enjoyed in Leyla's presence.

　　一对雄企鹅的“忘年恋”：谁也别想分开我们

　　2005年10月，“0310”5岁，“067”刚刚出生，它们跟其他13位兄弟姐妹一同从新西兰来到哈尔滨极地馆。

　　随后的3年半，饲养员赵毅逐渐发现，早已成年的“0310”喜欢独来独往，从不跟其他雌企鹅亲近。去年7月，在企鹅繁殖期前夕，赵毅惊奇地发现，9岁的“0310”和4岁的“067”常常腻在一起，互相吹气、抓痒、睡觉，“行为相当像情侣”。他认为可能是馆里企鹅“雌雄比例失调”造成了它们被同性吸引，于是决定将它们分开一阵子，再为其重新配对。

　　让赵毅没想到的是，在他们围起栅栏、把“0310”关起来后的一段时间里，“0310”就在栅栏里不停地走来走去，“067”坚定地等在外面，不吃不睡。几天后，“0310”脚掌磨出了血，“067”也瘦了一圈。赵毅心疼不已，决定不再“强迫”它们分开。

　　到了繁殖期，馆里也曾试图给它们找“女伴”，但它们根本不正眼瞧那些雌企鹅。“配对”均告失败。从此“二人”目无旁人地出双入对，形影不离。

　　两只雄企鹅想做父母：到别人“家”里去抢蛋

　　每年10月，是企鹅结婚生子的季节。“0310”和“067”也忙得“不亦乐乎”：叼着鹅卵石跑来跑去“装修”爱巢。看着其他企鹅妈妈都有了自己的蛋宝宝，它俩就动用武力去抢人家的蛋。于是，两个大“男生”整天不待在自己窝里，而是到处制造“劫案”。赵毅一怒之下关了它们的禁闭。

　　“面壁思过”了几天后，它们重回故园。考虑到它们想当父母的心情，赵毅给了它们一个“安慰奖”———一枚假企鹅蛋。结果，它们马上安静下来，趴在早已用鹅卵石搭建好的“产房”一心一意孵起蛋来。赵毅发现，它们的孵化本领非常高，甚至比已经产蛋的企鹅妈妈更加熟练。

　　哈尔滨极地馆相关负责人表示，“0310”和“067”其实是非常好的“父母”，“它们体格好，责任心强，今年如果再有不称职的企鹅父母，我们将把蛋交给它们俩来孵。”

　　“同性恋”企鹅吸引眼球：境内外媒体竞相关注

　　据介绍，这对“同性恋”企鹅曾引起境内外很多媒体的关注，凤凰卫视、西班牙国家电视台都曾来馆采访，英国《每日邮报》等媒体也对此进行过报道。

　　东北林业大学动物科技学院的白秀娟教授告诉记者，动物之间不仅有同性恋情，还有不同种类动物相恋的情况发生，“这跟成长环境不无关系。不过同性动物之间只有交配能力，没有繁殖能力。”据介绍，现已发现有“同性恋”的动物种类占总物种量的20%,如鸸鹋、海豚、猪等。

　　对于哈尔滨极地馆的这两只雄企鹅，白教授表示，跟人一样，动物也可能发生同性恋情，这不用怀疑，“动物世界的纷纭复杂远比人们所料想和了解的要多”。

這個世界能理解動物，卻不能接納他人。

South African Men “Cure” Lesbians With Rape

Gangs of South African men are raping lesbians in the belief it will "cure" the women's sexual orientation, an aid agency said Friday. NGO ActionAid said in a report titled "Hate Crimes: the rise of corrective rape in South Africa" lesbians were increasingly at risk of rape, particularly in South African townships where homosexuality is largely taboo.

South African lesbians face many challenges. Not only do they have to work against sexual stereotypes and fight for equality, they’re also finding themselves the target of severe physical violence.

Sexual abuse is all too common in this country, and after female football star Eudy Simelane was found dead after being gang-raped, beaten and stabbed 25 times in the face, violence against lesbians in South Africa has come to the forefront of human-rights debates. But she’s not the only victim, by far. In July 2006, the bodies of two other women were found in a field in Soweto, a township outside Johannesburg. One woman, who was openly a lesbian and an HIV/AIDS activist, had been shot six times. Groups like Human Rights Watch have called on the government to step it up against the horrific crimes, but violence against lesbians and their attackers’ campaign of "corrective rape" to "cure" them of their sexual orientation has only increased. A new report by NGO ActionAid, which is supported by the South African Human Rights Commission, says the crimes must be punished by the country’s legal system as hate crimes.

"Every day I am told that they are going to kill me, that they are going to rape me and after they rape me I’ll become a girl," Zakhe Sowello from Soweto told The Guardian newspaper. "When you are raped you have a lot of evidence on your body. But when we try and report these crimes nothing happens, and then you see the boys who raped you walking free on the street."

Let’s hope South Africa has the political strength to combat these vicious crimes.

关于The L word S608

昨晚還是把The L word S608以及Special部分看完。 

很喜歡最後一集很多細節能與第一季形成首尾呼應。 

經歷了5年、6年，很多事情經歷了，但有些感情還是依然不變。 

結局Jenny到底是suicide還是被murder，其實根本不需要考究。 

我們要的也不是這個答案。 

其實細心看，這劇有悲有喜，很让人有滿足感（這形容詞怪怪）。 

最後所有Cast一起出場的畫面还是很有感覺。 

一切由游泳池開始，也在這游泳池結束。 

這Special帶著我們回顧了這6季的TLW發展， 

包括個人對劇集的想法，角色的思考。 

看到alice拿著太陽花在醫院得知dana消息的片段，還是很被感動。 

當然，JB收到的信中寫到“you're a hero”眼泛著淚光也證明了這戲的確是一個經典。 

Special收錄了不少幕後、演員的日常片段，很勾起當時的回憶。

对婚姻的定义一直都在发生着变化,比如说,离婚、国际婚姻以及对重婚的禁止。女人一度被视为男人的物品,不得不嫁给出价最高的男人。同性婚姻也只不过是人类社会发展的另一种形式,就像每个人都在变化一样,只不过变化的内容是两个相爱的人。

来自宗教的反对者总是把《圣经》的经文搬出来以驳斥同性夫妻的生活方式。但是《圣经》上并没有哪一篇直接谈到了同性婚姻,所以,圣经至上的人还得从其他文献上寻找答案来维护自己的观点。但是,如果我们非得用圣经来诠释同性婚姻的话,倒不如不用它来研究一下其它问题,比如说奴隶制。《圣经》宽恕奴隶主对奴隶的鞭挞，就算打死也不要紧。我们正在拒绝着一群对“性”有自己的独特准则的人。这难道不是历史的重演吗?在五十和六十年代,隔离是很正常的。在历史上最为黑暗的一个时期,我们仅仅凭着肤色就将一个人群彻底地隔离开来。现在,我们正对另一群人做着同样的事情,唯一的理由就是他们的性偏好,最让人觉得悲哀的是,有许多人并不觉得这有什么不对。

我无法理解的是,为什么有些人对同性夫妻抱有如此大的歧视?同性婚姻和其他任何婚姻一样,都是以爱为基础的。如果每个人生来就是平等的,那么,异性相爱和同性相爱又有什么差别呢?那么,让他们自然而然地享有和其他人同等的权利又有什么不对呢?

    《长春市预防和制止家庭暴力条例》已于３月１日起正式施行。这一地方性法规，将未婚同居、单亲家庭、单身家庭、同性家庭等情况下的受害人纳入保护范围。

    据记者了解，《条例》没有具体指出上述情况下的受害人同样受到法规保护，而是称"是指配偶、父母、子女以及其他共同生活的家庭成员。"长春市政府副秘书长、市政府妇儿工委副主任卢福建说："这一提法，既参考《民法通则》和《继承法》的有关规定，对家庭成员具体范围进行确认，又通过开放式的规定拓展了伸缩空间，基本上能够涵盖基于传统家庭观念下的家庭成员范围。"

    他还说，基于前瞻性立法的考虑，"对于本条例的调整范围既考虑了传统家庭关系中家庭成员之间的暴力侵害，还考虑到未来我市家庭关系的实际发展趋向，将未婚同居、单亲家庭、单身家庭、同性家庭等情况下的受害人纳入保护范围。"

    据介绍，《条例》同时强调中性立法，对家庭暴力的受害人不作性别、年龄的区分，保护对象包括所有遭受家庭暴力的家庭成员。而有关遭受家庭暴力的投诉机构、公安机关和１１０接警服务、设立救助场所、司法鉴定等方面的规定，也体现了该《条例》的实际实用性。

    近年来，家庭暴力已成为一个令人关注的社会问题。据长春市妇联统计，２００４至２００８年，长春市共发生家庭暴力案件９４３件。此外，妇联部门接待的信访问题中，家庭暴力问题也高居榜首。这一法规的实施，将使预防和制止家庭暴力工作步入法制化轨道。

'The L Word': Farewell bash for the groundbreaking show

In a bid to give a proper goodbye to lesbian drama "The L Word" which has spanned for 6 seasons, Showtime held a farewell party at West Hollywood's Cafe La Boheme. The March 3 event was made in the package of a movie premiere, with the stars gracing the red carpet for photo sessions before going inside the venue.

With the final episode of Showtime's The L Word airing on March 8, the stars of the six-season show gathered Tuesday night for a farewell celebration at Café La Bohème in West Hollywood. Creator IIene Chaiken said the show, which challenged stereotypes about lesbian identity, sex and relationships, has made an imprint on the culture. "We have heard stories and gotten letters over the years about how the show has changed people's lives and outlooks, and I'm proud of that," she said(top photo: Chaiken, far left, with stars Katherine Moennig and Kate French).

Marlee Matlin, who played the artistic Jodi, admired the show's ability to reach a mainstream audience. "Whether you were gay or straight, it didn't matter," Matlin said. "There was something for everyone here."
The same could be said for the party, which was presented by EW. For instance, Jane Lynch (Role Models) charmed the room, inspiring huge laughs all evening no matter whom she was talking to. And while the party was a goodbye, the people behind The L Word seemed ready to embrace the future. Chaiken has already shot the pilot for a spinoff series that'll follow one of the show's characters into prison. "I am hopeful that it will get on the air on Showtime, and if it does, that's certainly one way that life will go on for The L Word," she said. Cast member Laurel Holloman had an even more immediate future on her mind. "I can't overdo it or stay out too late," she said. "I have an audition tomorrow!"

The show will wrap it up on Sunday, March 8 with the episode "Last Word" which preview can be seen here. The character Alice will then continue her journey in a spin-off which production has been kicked off in December 2008.
