A LESBIAN kiss shown on popular Channel 7 soapie Home and Away has sparked controversy and a show of support.

Dozens of women protested at Federation Square about rumoured censoring of the kiss, but Channel 7 denied tampering with the scene involving Esther Anderson and Katie Bell.

Channel 7 spokeswoman Susan Wood said: "Some viewers were in support of the storyline and some were concerned."

Protester Emma Phillips, 32, said the group wanted recognition for discrimination against gay people.

"Gay people are going to exist whether we like it or not," she said.

哈尔滨一对企鹅同性相爱

 

  “0310”和“067”，这两个平凡的数字，代表了一个不平凡的企鹅家庭。在哈尔滨极地馆，这对雄企鹅总是背靠背酣然入梦，演绎着一场动物世界中“情比金坚”的爱情。

　　一对雄企鹅的“忘年恋”：谁也别想分开我们

　　2005年10月，“0310”5岁，“067”刚刚出生，它们跟其他13位兄弟姐妹一同从新西兰来到哈尔滨极地馆。

　　随后的3年半，饲养员赵毅逐渐发现，早已成年的“0310”喜欢独来独往，从不跟其他雌企鹅亲近。去年7月，在企鹅繁殖期前夕，赵毅惊奇地发现，9岁的“0310”和4岁的“067”常常腻在一起，互相吹气、抓痒、睡觉，“行为相当像情侣”。他认为可能是馆里企鹅“雌雄比例失调”造成了它们被同性吸引，于是决定将它们分开一阵子，再为其重新配对。

　　让赵毅没想到的是，在他们围起栅栏、把“0310”关起来后的一段时间里，“0310”就在栅栏里不停地走来走去，“067”坚定地等在外面，不吃不睡。几天后，“0310”脚掌磨出了血，“067”也瘦了一圈。赵毅心疼不已，决定不再“强迫”它们分开。

　　到了繁殖期，馆里也曾试图给它们找“女伴”，但它们根本不正眼瞧那些雌企鹅。“配对”均告失败。从此“二人”目无旁人地出双入对，形影不离。

　　两只雄企鹅想做父母：到别人“家”里去抢蛋

　　每年10月，是企鹅结婚生子的季节。“0310”和“067”也忙得“不亦乐乎”：叼着鹅卵石跑来跑去“装修”爱巢。看着其他企鹅妈妈都有了自己的蛋宝宝，它俩就动用武力去抢人家的蛋。于是，两个大“男生”整天不待在自己窝里，而是到处制造“劫案”。赵毅一怒之下关了它们的禁闭。

　　“面壁思过”了几天后，它们重回故园。考虑到它们想当父母的心情，赵毅给了它们一个“安慰奖”———一枚假企鹅蛋。结果，它们马上安静下来，趴在早已用鹅卵石搭建好的“产房”一心一意孵起蛋来。赵毅发现，它们的孵化本领非常高，甚至比已经产蛋的企鹅妈妈更加熟练。

　　哈尔滨极地馆相关负责人表示，“0310”和“067”其实是非常好的“父母”，“它们体格好，责任心强，今年如果再有不称职的企鹅父母，我们将把蛋交给它们俩来孵。”

　　“同性恋”企鹅吸引眼球：境内外媒体竞相关注

　　据介绍，这对“同性恋”企鹅曾引起境内外很多媒体的关注，凤凰卫视、西班牙国家电视台都曾来馆采访，英国《每日邮报》等媒体也对此进行过报道。

　　东北林业大学动物科技学院的白秀娟教授告诉记者，动物之间不仅有同性恋情，还有不同种类动物相恋的情况发生，“这跟成长环境不无关系。不过同性动物之间只有交配能力，没有繁殖能力。”据介绍，现已发现有“同性恋”的动物种类占总物种量的20%,如鸸鹋、海豚、猪等。

　　对于哈尔滨极地馆的这两只雄企鹅，白教授表示，跟人一样，动物也可能发生同性恋情，这不用怀疑，“动物世界的纷纭复杂远比人们所料想和了解的要多”。

這個世界能理解動物，卻不能接納他人。

南非：以“強暴” 来 “治療” Lesbian性向

South African Men “Cure” Lesbians With Rape

Gangs of South African men are raping lesbians in the belief it will "cure" the women's sexual orientation, an aid agency said Friday. NGO ActionAid said in a report titled "Hate Crimes: the rise of corrective rape in South Africa" lesbians were increasingly at risk of rape, particularly in South African townships where homosexuality is largely taboo.

South African lesbians face many challenges. Not only do they have to work against sexual stereotypes and fight for equality, they’re also finding themselves the target of severe physical violence.

Sexual abuse is all too common in this country, and after female football star Eudy Simelane was found dead after being gang-raped, beaten and stabbed 25 times in the face, violence against lesbians in South Africa has come to the forefront of human-rights debates. But she’s not the only victim, by far. In July 2006, the bodies of two other women were found in a field in Soweto, a township outside Johannesburg. One woman, who was openly a lesbian and an HIV/AIDS activist, had been shot six times. Groups like Human Rights Watch have called on the government to step it up against the horrific crimes, but violence against lesbians and their attackers’ campaign of "corrective rape" to "cure" them of their sexual orientation has only increased. A new report by NGO ActionAid, which is supported by the South African Human Rights Commission, says the crimes must be punished by the country’s legal system as hate crimes.

"Every day I am told that they are going to kill me, that they are going to rape me and after they rape me I’ll become a girl," Zakhe Sowello from Soweto told The Guardian newspaper. "When you are raped you have a lot of evidence on your body. But when we try and report these crimes nothing happens, and then you see the boys who raped you walking free on the street."

Let’s hope South Africa has the political strength to combat these vicious crimes.

It's 6th Annual International Lesbian Shoe Day!

Yes, it’s that time of the year again - March 4th to be precise - when lesbians from every corner of the world hang their shoes outside their window to show their lesbian pride.

International Shoe Day, originated in Switzerland. The founders of the popular lesbian online community shoe.org asked their members for fun ideas to promote lesbian pride back in 2004. The 150,000 strong shoe community came up with many different ideas but one has now become a cult!

For the past 6 years lesbians from all around the world have been hanging a pair of shoes outside their window's every March 4th. So everyone can walk around their neighboorhood's and check out where other lesbians live. Some have been lucky enough to get invited for a cup of coffee. Wouldn’t that be a fab way to start a movie.

The idea is simple and easy to do, and that probably explains its huge success. So far Lesbians in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Europe have taken part, but also women as far away as India, Kyrgyzstan, Estonia, South Korea, and the Czech Republic – have thrown their shoes skywards.

International Shoe Day, aims to unite the lesbian community and acts as an international coming out event. So what stopping you? Get those shoes out of the closet!

簡單來說，"SHOE Day"（不妨說成“女鞋節”？粵語發音正好一樣。）就是在每年的3月4號全球的Lesbian將自己的鞋子掛在窗口上，用來表達自己是lesbian的榮耀。
在那天，你可以四處走走，看看鄰居、四周是不是都有Lesbian在。
如果幸運的話，還可以被邀請喝上一杯咖啡！

這"SHOE Day"（“女鞋節”）其實源自瑞士，一個非常有名的lesbian線上社區shoe.org；
2004年，shoe.org的發起人一開始只是在社區內發起活動，覺得非常有意思，後來越來越多人參加，最後形成了這個有趣的節日。感覺就是有點像每年的遊行差不多。

由於"SHOE Day"（“女鞋節”）活動非常簡單，但意義深厚，很快就取得了成功。
今年已經是第六屆International Lesbian Shoe Day了。
直到現在不但美國、加拿大、墨西哥、歐洲等地的lesbian已經加入了，
連遠至印度、吉爾吉斯坦（新疆隔壁）、愛沙尼亞（波羅的海附近）、韓國、捷克都有參加這個活動。

Thirty Chinese gay and lesbian activists gathered near Tiananmen Square in Beijing to stage a mock wedding photo session Saturday, hoping to win support for same sex marriage in the conservative society. The demonstration drew gasps, smiles and an occasional scowl from passers-by but police did not interfere.

For some in Beijing's gay and lesbian community, Valentine's Day is not just a day to celebrate loving relationships, but also an ideal time to campaign for same-sex marriages and the acceptance of homosexuality in China

Chinese gays and lesbians took to the streets on Saturday hoping Saint Valentine's Day would help them attract support for same-sex marriage in the conservative society. 

Thirty people gathered on a street in the Chinese capital, close to Tiananmen Square and its stern portrait of Mao Zedong, to hold mock wedding photo sessions. They drew gasps, smiles and an occasional scowl from passers-by. Organisers said similar events took place in three other cities. 

Their goal was to win more acceptance in a nation that has long frowned upon open displays of sexuality. Campaigners gave out roses and a slip of pink paper urging support for same-sex marriage. 

Police did not interfere. Same-sex marriage is forbidden in China, where for many homosexuality is abhorrent or unknown. 

"A lot of people around me don't see the gay community, they don't even know there are any of us around. They think we are very seductive and strange," said one participant, a student who used the name Dana. 

 

"Through today's event I want to tell everyone that there are a lot of us around them, they just can't see us, and that we are the same as everyone else," she said. 

With official attitudes relaxing, cities like Beijing and Shanghai now have small but increasingly confident gay scenes. 

Zhang Yi, one of the men who posed for wedding snaps, said: "I think that coming here and taking these wedding photos is for fun and a chance for everyone to come into contact with and understand us. But everything needs time." 

One onlooker, 19-year-old student Cheng Xiaojiao, said the gathering was a brave gesture. 

 "I see no problem. I already have a lot of friends and acquaintances like them. We shouldn't judge them, everyone has their own way of life," she said. 

But Jia Junfeng, a legal worker, said: "I personally do not support this kind of marriage because I think it is in conflict with Chinese morality." 

新聞大概的意思是在昨天（2.14）情人節當天，有30個gay/lesbina在天安門廣場上舉行了模擬婚禮，以此來表達支持同性婚姻。當然，路人有的微笑對待，也有的不理解，但警察並沒有進行干預。除了北京，上海等幾個大城市都有類似活動。

 文章還訪問了幾個參與活動的人士，他/她們說：很多人不知道身邊有這群人的存在，感覺很陌生。他/她們就是想通過這次活動表達，其實我們（gay/lesbina）跟普通人一樣，就存在我們身邊。

其中一個叫Zhang Yi的男生說，我覺得這次模擬婚禮拍照活動很有趣，給了其他人了解他們的機會。當然，一切都需要時間。

一個路過的19歲學生Cheng Xiaojiao說他/她們很勇敢，不認為同性戀有什麼問題。而且她有不少朋友就是gay/lesbina。我們不會覺得有什麼問題，她們不過選擇她們自己的道路。

當然，也有法律學者不支持這種婚姻模式，因為她認為這是與中國傳統道德違背的。

　另一對愛侶是男「同志」—25歲的海北和小章。小章對記者說，「和世俗的情侶一樣，我們發自內心地希望能和有情人終成眷屬，能拍真正的結婚照。也許到我們老了，也等不到同性婚姻可以獲法律承認的那一天。但是我們站出來了，告訴社會這個群體不是少數人。」

Have you heard that Ken Starr -- and the Prop 8 Legal Defense Fund -- filed legal briefs defending the constitutionality of Prop 8 and attempting to forcibly divorce 18,000 same-sex couples that were married in California last year? The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in this case on March 5, 2009, with a decision expected within the next 90 days.
